A Great Day, One Our Team Will Never Forget

7/12/08: Frank Jr.

Well faithful race fans and blog readers I am happy to report that we had a great day in Beaver Springs, PA this past Saturday.  A day that I will never forget, one that was filled with much anticipation and excitement, one that ended with my first event win.

Saturday was the day that I crossed over that mental divide and achieved a goal that I have been working towards for a few years now.

It may come as a shock to some of you that our team had not achieved this sooner, and looking back I remember all of the close races that we missed out on.  Like any form of motorsport we have endured many challenges along the way, some engine or car related and others driver related.  But Saturday July 12, 2008 was our day.  A day that proved we were the team to beat.  Pmotorsports put together a lethal racing package combining a car that was consistently running near our 8.75s index and a driver that was in the zone, laying down reaction times of 0.33, 0.19, 0.08, and 0.28 for the four elimination round wins.

We made our way through the 16 car field and came out on top with several very tough competitors from the North East Timing Association (NETO) Comp division.

Our team has really jelled over this season and that has made this year one of the best I can ever recall.  Everyone on the team knows their job and does it well.  Norbert, Matt and Marc are all really great guys who put tons of effort into making our team successful and they deserve a ton of credit.  They allow Dad and I to make the tuning calls on the cars and before we can think of what needs to be done, one of them has already done it.  I attribute our win to this level of professionalism and consistency that the team showed.  This allowed me, as a driver, to focus more on my job and not have to worry about anything else.  Each round our team just kept getting better and when the event win was on the line we pulled through and defeated our competition handly.

This event was supposed to be a double header with another race on Sunday.  Unfortunately mother nature got in the way of our fun and eliminations on Sunday were rained out.  So while we were a little disappointed about that, we realized what a great achievement our first win was and went home happy.  Now that we have the first one out of the way, I think the guys in the other lane better be a little more worried.  Believe me racing is a very mental game and Saturday’s win proved to me that I have what it takes to make my return to the winners circle happen a lot quicker than my first trip there.

So to everyone who has helped our team get to this point Thank you for all of your support.  To my fellow team members Frank Privitera Sr., Norbert Zachmann, Matt Angle and Marc Lyons all I can say is you guys are the best.
